Job Summary

The Director of the Medical Surgical Department directs and manages the operations and activities of the Medical Surgical Department and Contract Services provided in the Department. He/She is responsible for the overall management of the department’s daily operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives. He/She is responsible for the staff performance and accomplishment of department responsibilities in accordance with corporate, hospital, department, and safety policies and procedures to meet both company and regulatory requirements. The Nurse Director is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to and acting as a liaison with patients with their representatives, physicians, and employees. He/She is responsible for the efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs. The Director of the Medical Surgical Department assumes the role as a leader in planning, directing, and managing departments and staff to assure quality service on a 24-hour basis.

  • The continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and service provided via the “HCA Patient Care Experience” process & program
  • Daily Nurse Leader Rounding on Patients to manage the patient’s expectations and experience
  • Ensures care provided meets the quality and satisfaction needs of the patients
  • Hardwire staff hourly rounding
  • Manage Up and provide staff recognition

Job Qualifications

  • Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Other-Fingerprint Required

MUST HAVE CURRENT MED SURG DIRECTOR EXPERIENCE or STRONG MANAGERIAL MED SURG IN AN ACUTE CARE SETTING 5 YRS OR MORE
